SUMMARY:NPA Bush Walk that sets out from Armidale Visitors Centre
DESCRIPTION:Hi Members and Supporters\nNon members are welcome to join us on 3 walks prior to joining NPA. The walk won’t require transport as it will commence from the visitor centre. \nOutline: \nThe walk will start at the Armidale Visitor Centre and will not require any further transport. The walk will then follow Box Hill Drive to Rockvale Road then along Trelawney Road to the eastern end of a road corridor where another group has been cutting out exotic shrubs and weeds. The corridor has a good sample of ridge top vegetation and leads through to the highway. A short section of highway to Range View Road where views across the landscape to Mount Duval are possible. Then along Range View Road\, Fittler Road and Link Road to the path along Scholes Street under the highway and along Crest Road to Erskine Street. Then through Snow Gums Reserve where a third group has been dealing with weeds amongst the native woodland. The walk will follow Kirkwood Street to Dangar Street and along the bike path where Armidale Regional Council is planning to “beautify” the adjoining park lands back to the Visitor Information Centre. Total distance is around 13 kms depending on which route to follow through Snow Gums Reserve. \n\nEstimated Distance: 13 kms depending on the route through Snow Gums Reserve.\nWhat to Bring: Suitable clothing\, hat\, warm jumper\, raincoat\, lunch\, water\, personal first aid kit\, thermos if one desires a hot drink during the day.\nWhat to Wear: Check the forecast and wear appropriate clothing.\n\nOptions to Shorten the Walk: \nThere are several options to shorten the walk by following various roads and streets back to the Visitor Information Centre. SUMMARY:NPA Forum: Managing Travelling Stock Routes
DESCRIPTION:Managing Travelling Stock Routes for Ecological Significance and stock use At Kent house 141 Faulkner St Armidale. \n\n6.00pm- Join us for supper of homemade soups (vegetarian or chicken and vegetable)\n6.45pm- Forum on Travelling Stock Routes with guest speaker Ross Fuller of LLS Q&A\, discussion\n7.45pm– Tea and dessert break\n8 pm- NPA members meeting (all welcome): short update on activities\, time for you to raise issues\n\nZoom link:   https://us02web.zoom.us/j/81670358156 \nRoss has spent 10 years with Local Land Services managing the network of Travelling Stock Routes and Reserves (TSR’s) which criss-cross the tablelands between Inverell\, Tenterfield\, Armidale and Walcha. They are vital wildlife corridors and include some of the best remaining examples of the grassy woodlands that used to cover the better soils across the tablelands. Tenders are open for 5-year grazing leases over many of them. Do stock and graziers always get priority over conserving natural values? How are weeds and pest animals managed? \nNPA is separate from the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS)\, a government department. \nArmidale Branch of National Parks Association celebrated 50 years i1974 – 2024
