SUMMARY:RSVP: NPA walk near Armidale
DESCRIPTION:Distance: 15 kms\n\nTerrain: Mostly on tracks and roads. Ascent aprox 100 metres to Crest Road then undulating followed by a descent down Box Hill Drive.\n\nFrom the Armidale Visitor Centre we will follow the bike path to Jessie Street then through Snow Gums Reserve to Erskine Street. Then along back streets and road reserves past the former Duval High School and new subdivisions to the highway near Hoys Road. We will then follow a road reserve east past an area called Four Ways where we will stop for lunch. Continuing along the road reserve and Trelawney Road to the bike path along Rockvale Road up the hill to Box Hill Drive. Down Box Hill Drive to the bike path along Dumaresq Creek and back to the Visitor Centre. Further details will be available closer to the date.\n\nHighlights: Work performed by volunteers in Snow Gums Reserve\, along road corridors between the highway and Trelawney Road. Many thousands of native plants planted along Dumaresq Creek over the past two decades. Views over town from Snow Gums Reserve. SUMMARY:Activist sightseeing Pilliga scrub Tag-a-long Tour
DESCRIPTION:National Parks association\, Armidale Branch invite you to join Pat Schultz on a tag-a-long tour of the culturally and ecologically significant & wonderful Pilliga Forest. The proposed program is flexible and depends on numbers attending and weather conditions. \nIf time permits it is most enjoyable to have a day at the Pilliga Hot Bore Baths prior to the tour. \nArrive at Pilliga village on to camp & relax at Pilliga hot bore baths ($5) or book into the Pilliga Pub\, the pub has two family rooms Phone 0428671182 for bookings. Dinner may be available at the pub. Friday afternoon arrive at Pilliga Pottery \n\nSaturday — Leave at 8.30am Drive to Baradine Forest Discovery Centre\, with interesting displays and the history of The Pilliga\, then on to Sculptures in the Scrub or the Salt Cave & the Fire tower for expansive views across forest vista to Warrumbungle and Nandewar ranges. If time permits visit Gamilaraay Sculpture Walk and possibly the Sandstone Caves. Stay at Barkala Homestay (Pilliga Pottery) where camping\, private room or share a room in unique accommodation is available and dine in the Blue Wren Cafe.\nSunday — Leave at 8.30am to tour Santos coal seam gas fields & infrastructure\, accompanied by a local Pilliga resident who will share their love and knowledge of Pilliga biodiversity and give an update on the controversial Narrabri Gas Project impacting on the forest\, surrounding farmlands & the serious risks to the Great Artesian Basin For those with commitments the tour ends to allow travel home on Friday afternoon or for those staying the accommodation is the same as for Thursday night.\nMonday — For those who have more time\, we’ll visit any destinations missed on Saturday or meet the Interests of participants\, for example bushwalks and other related activities\n\nFor further information please contact Pat Schultz on {mobile prefix oh for}28 725 852
