Volunteer photographers needed to take photos of Leard Forest, Maules Creek and Namoi Valley

leard-forestWith the buyback of the Caroona coal licence from BHP, and the potential buyback of Shenhua, there is a concern that the Namoi Valley, not classified as the Liverpool Plains will not be deemed “prime agricultural” land.

We would like to tell the story in pictures of how this extremely fertile beautiful well watered land may not be classified by the government as “prime”, but nevertheless is completely inappropriate to sterilise it for ever as open cut coal mining.

Therefore, we need photographers who can accompany us on our field trips, and also take photographs of both the farming and forest landscapes.

We are keen, for example, to obtain some good photography of the view of the Leard Forest mines from Mount Kaputar.

During the month of September, we will also have a need for visual documentation of some of the activities of our group, the Wando Conservation Centre, including documenting citizen science workshop between 25 to 28 September, and other citizen science fieldwork throughout the month.

Are you interested in visiting Maules Creek next month? If so, we would benefit greatly by the ability to use photographs to help tell our story.
