November Forum: Agriculture for the 21st century

Thursday, 6 Nov
7:00 pm

Jane2012Sustainable Living Armidale is delighted to welcome back Jane Pickard as guest speaker for its last Thursday Forum for 2014. Jane has just returned to Armidale after several years in Totnes, Devon, home of the Transition Town movement, where she was working as programme leader in ecological horticulture at the world-renowned Schumacher College.

Schumacher College was founded in 1990, inspired by the work of E.F. Schumacher, economist, environmentalist and development educator, and author of the influential book Small is Beautiful. It is an international centre for education in sustainable living.

Always an enthusiastic permaculturist, Jane left Armidale in search of sustainable horticulture techniques. She returns convinced of the huge potential offered by regenerative agriculture using agroforestry and holistic planned grazing. In her talk Jane will discuss the importance of this approach and other aspects of Schumacher College’s philosophy and teaching. She will also touch on her experiences living in an intentional community, and getting to know The Moneyless Man, Mark Boyle.

The Forum will be held on Thursday November 6 at 7pm at Kent House, Faulkner St, opposite Central Park. All welcome, tea and coffee provided. A gold coin donation would be appreciated
