SLA in Conversation with Council’s General Manager

Thursday, 2 Feb
7:00 pm

SLA starts its 2012 monthly Thursday Forums with a Public Conversation with Armidale Dumaresq Council’s General Manager Shane Burns, on Thursday 2nd February at 7pm at Kent House.

In seeking to improve Council’s engagement with the community, the General Manager will discuss Council’s future plans and other concerns arising from the 2011-2026 Armidale Community Strategic Plan, and any other issues that SLA might raise.

“This is a good opportunity for our members to ask questions and gain insights into our Council’s approach to the issues we care about,” said SLA Convenor, Joc Coventry. “We are very interested in Council’s plans for sustainability and energy use, and look forward to being able to discuss these and other topics,” he said.

SLA has been holding monthly forums for four years and the issues raised have been wide-ranging and sometimes global. The focus is always on what we can learn that will help in the goal of making Armidale resilient in the face of peak oil and climate change, and building relationships in the community towards that end.

Everyone is welcome to participate in or initiate activities within SLA that will work towards a resilient and sustainable local community.

The SLA Public Conversation with Council’s General Manager, Shane Burns, will be held on Thursday 2nd February at 7pm at Kent House (141 Faulkner Street, opposite Central Park). All welcome, light refreshments to follow, gold coin donation appreciated.
